The story I had in the Globe real estate section a while back on the PowerHouse Enterprises home in Lawrence led to one I had yesterday, about a home nearing completion in Westport that hopes to rely mostly on ground-source heat pumps and a wind turbine for its utility needs. If you know of any other homes that oughta be written about, please be in touch.

Michael,
Have read about a number of energy efficient homes and new technologies that are helping consumers save money and help reduce carbon footprint. I would love the opportunity to speak with you about homes that have installed the new energy efficient heating and cooling system called the Acadia from Hallowell International. The Acadia is as efficient as geothermal (ground source technology) but is air-source. This make it much more affordable for consumers. you can view actual savings on their website at, http://www.gotohallowell.com/calculator/default.aspx
Hallowell is located in Bangor, ME and the new Acadia system won this year's AHR (HVAC industry) heating innovation award. The inventor of this technology lives in Cape Cod.
I would love the opportunity to speak with you directly about this technology.
Thanks!

Michael,
I read your article re: the Westport home and the fact that it was titled "going off grid". However, I noticed that there was no mention of the battery bank that would be required in order to accomplish going off grid. Did I miss something?

No, you didn't. When I submitted the story, it read, "off the grid, at least in net terms," but that was edited out later. Good eye.

Hi Michael,
I represent a builder who is part of an open initiative project here in New England. I don't want to come off like a PR hack (who, me? A hack?) and flood you with a lot of info...but I would like the opportunity to send you some info and help you decide whether it's something worth writing about.

I'd love to get in touch with this at your leisure.
