Connecticut-based insurer CIGNA is about to embark on a seven-month series of free telephone seminars to help people better understand eating disorders.
The first is next Tuesday, and will feature Stacie McEntyre, executive director of the Carolina House residential eating disorders treatment center.
I'm not familiar either with McEntyre or Carolina House, but I note that the third in the series will feature Marty Lerner, executive director of Milestones in Recovery, a Florida treatment center, and anything that Marty's connected to is, in my observation, not only legit but worthwhile. He takes his turn on June 28. And September's guest, speaking about female athletes and eating disorders, will be Kimberly Dennis of Timberline Knolls. A complete schedule of the series, which runs through October, is here.
To participate in the series, dial 866-564-7440 just before 1 p.m. on the appointed day and when prompted, enter the passcode 9026721. For those outside the US and Canada, dial 719-785-1762.
Seminar handouts, additional information about eating disorders and access to the audio playback of each session are available here.
