Cornies' win would be empty, just like their calories

I always strive to write shorter posts than I end up writing, but this can be a quick hitter:

The website corncommentary.com posts a piece recounting how some expert sides with its view that high fructose corn syrup is equivalent to beet and cane sugar. That point is the crux of a suit by sugar producers who oppose the corn producers' petition to use the term "corn sugar." La di da for them, I say.

I agree that HFCS is more or less the same as those other refined sugars. My point, of course, is that all refined sugars are misused and overused, and as long as they are, they all pose a threat to public health.

Really, the suit seeks the opportunity to join a bigger category of noxious substances. That'd be quite a coup, should the cornies win.
