Create the problem, then "solve" it

I can't decide which part of this story of foodmanufacture.co.uk bothers me more, but I guess I'll opt for its complete lack of acknowledgment that diabetes is a serious health condition that degrades life on the way to early demise. Even if, yes, products opportunities have arisen with the increase in diabetes, can we at least pretend that that's bad news for the target market — I mean "people"?

I do concede that others might find it more reprehensible that this "goldmine" has been, in fact, created by the industry that stands to benefit from it! The food industry's relentless expansion of processed foods into the market, pushed relentlessly by billions in marketing effort, is what has created so many more diabetics than there used to be.

According to the story, 7.8 percent of the adults on the planet, 438 million by 2025, will be affected by diabetes.
